Garden Tubs

A garden tub spa is a large soaker tub that has an electric pump and water jets.  These tubs are usually called whirlpool tubs or jet tubs.  The pump causes water to circulate through a series of pipes using underwater suction and pushes the water out through a vented constriction that injects air into the water and sends it out the water jets.  A whirlpool tub differs from a hot tub in that fresh water is added and then drained with each use of the whirlpool tub.

There are a variety of sizes, styles, colors, designs, and features in garden tub spas.  Most bathtub manufacturers now have a line of whirlpool tubs to choose from.  Most are constructed of fiberglass.

When shopping for a new garden tub spa, be sure that you try several out.  The size and shape play an important role in how easy it is to get into and out of the bathtub as well as how comfortable it is to sit in.  The main point of having a whirlpool tub is to have a place to sit and relax, if the tub is not comfortable and inviting then it will not serve its purpose well.  Also be sure that it will fit in your bathroom space.  If your house is already constructed and you are simply remodeling that bathroom, be sure that the new tub will fit in the bathroom door or a window.  It is also important to note that a tub full of water can weigh as much as 1500 lbs. so it is important to have extra floor support where the tub will be placed.
